Saint Elizabeth Manor, East Bay

Saint Elizabeth Manor, East Bay is a nursing facility serving 133 men and women . It is located in picturesque Bristol, RI. on over 8 acres of park-like grounds. Unique features include a small petting zoo and a child day care center which provides a natural setting for intergenerational activities.

RN coverage is available twenty-four hours a day. A highly trained, experienced staff include a Medical Director, Case Manager, Dietitian, IV Certified staff, Rehabilitation and Restorative Recreational staff and Clinical Social Workers. The long-term, special care unit for Alzheimer's Disease residents and Transitional Care Unit are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO.)

The facility was built in 1976 and became part of the Saint Elizabeth Community in 1990.

Resident rooms and common areas were extensively renovated in 1998 with new furniture, wall and floor coverings. Rooms are air-conditioned and include a choice of a semi-private or private room or mini-suite. The facility is equipped with a satellite dish to enhance residents' TV viewing pleasure.

Specialty Units include:

Special Care Unit for residents with Alzheimer's Disease.

This 43-bed secured unit is designed to meet the needs of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia. The focus of the program is to provide a safe environment that enhances the life of the person suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. The objective of the unit is to promote independence and dignity without the unnecessary use of chemical and physical restraints.

Prior to working on the unit, staff attend an extensive training course which places special emphasis on behavioral interventions in working with people with dementia. Residents are kept engaged with a daily activity program from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Transitional Care Unit

Saint Elizabeth Manor, East Bay offers an elegant 18-bed unit designed to meet the needs of individuals after surgery or major illness. A team of specially trained staff provide individualized rehabilitation services needed during the transition from hospital to home.

Experienced staff provide the following services:

Orthopedic rehabilitation, cardiac/pulmonary care, oncology, medically complex, neurological, acute pain management, extensive wound care.
The length of stay in the Transitional Care Unit depends on the medical condition and daily progress of the individual. Before discharge, a home assessment may be conducted and any necessary services or equipment is coordinated by the patient's care team.

An individualized program that focuses on increasing endurance and fostering the highest level of independence is designed for each person. Family members, significant others and friends are recognized and encouraged to participate as integral members of the team.

Amenities include television, VCRs, telephone, electric beds, individual climate controlled units, beauty/barber shop, comfortable and attractive dining and activity areas.
