Saint Clare Home for the Aged

St. Clare Home is a 47 bed skilled nursing facility nestled in the heart of downtown Newport. We have been caring for Newport’s elderly since 1909 when the Daughters of the Holy Spirit settled here. The foundation of the chapel was laid in 1916 and in 1932 the chapel was completely renovated. The chapel, with 9 stained glass windows is exquisite, yet comfortable, and available to residents, staff, family and friends. As a health care agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese, our mission is to improve the quality of life for our family and community through care and service.

St. Clare Home offers only the highest quality care to our residents. Our staff is skilled in caring for people with a variety of diagnoses in addition to 24-hour nursing care. St. Clare Home provides stimulating recreational activities, delicious meals prepared by our own chefs, housekeeping and laundry services, medical social services, dietary and rehabilitative consultations and treatments. These services help make our home able to meet the needs of our variety of residents. This coupled with our home-like environment where our residents enjoy the companionship of 2 cats, Clare and Francis, and one dog, Coco, and the serenity of fish tanks in our day rooms, makes St. Clare Home truly a cheerful place to live.
